Hi everyone -- December is coming, and it's time to give the gift of anime! Everyone at AniDB thanks all of our Patreon ers for keeping us alive. It is amazing to see how many of you are ing us, spreading out the burden over many people.
We last posted back in April 2018, so we will be doing a fundraising Patreon post this December 2018 to coincide with Christmas.

With that said, we thought to make this a fun activity. We would like to give s a chance to contribute their creativity by starting a contest for the Christmas Patreon post banner! In our February 2018 Valentine's Day Patreon post, worf created a Valentines-themed AniDB anime banner.

This time around, we are asking YOU to submit a Christmas-themed AniDB anime banner! The winning banner will be featured as our Dec 2018 Patreon fundraising post banner. The banner should tie in Christmas with both anime and AniDB.

1. The winner will have their banner and name (unless you choose to remain anonymous) featured publicly on our next Patreon fundraising post.
2. The winner will also receive a Creative Content badge on their page.

1. Anyone can participate, both Patrons and regular s.
2. The submission period will be open from 2018-Nov-21 to 2018-Dec-10.
3. Each may submit, at most, 1 picture per day.
4. To enter your submission, simply reply to this AniDB forum thread with your picture.
   1. your image to one of the whitelisted image hosts: abload.de, tinypic.com, flickr.com, imgsafe.org, imgur.com, ipfs.pics, photobucket.com, picload.org, postimage.org, puu.sh
   2. Embed your image in your reply using the image tags.
   3. If you wish to make an anonymous submission, send an AniDB forum PM to CDB-Man instead.
5. The voting period will be from 2018-Dec-10 (after 23:00 UTC+0) to 2018-Dec-16. You may vote on as many images as you like.
6. If we suspect vote stuffing, then the staff will take this into consideration when looking at the results, and discard entries if needed.
7. In the unlikely event of a tie, a runoff vote will be held from 2018-Dec-17 to 2018-Dec-20 for all images coming first place in the original vote. Each will only get 1 vote in the runoff.
8. In the even-more unlikely event of a tie in the runoff vote, the AniDB staff will decide the winner.

1. Submit a Christmas-themed AniDB anime image that will be used as the banner on our Dec 2018 Patreon fundraising post. The banner should tie in Christmas with both anime and AniDB.
2. You are allowed to use the AniDB logo in your image, and it is encouraged!
3. Since the images will be posted on our public Patreon page, all images must be family-friendly, for all ages.
   1. 18+ / adult images will not be accepted.
   2. For borderline / ecchi images, the staff (mainly CDB-Man) will have sole discretion to accept or reject the submission. Note: we will lean on the more conservative side.
4. You are allowed to sign your image with your name (and optionally, your AniDB ID). Please have the signature in the bottom-right corner.
5. All images should be submitted as a PNG to comply with Patreon's requirements.
6. For a Patreon post, either a 4:3 ratio or 16:9 ratio image would fit best.

1. Q: How prominent should the AniDB logo be in the banner? I usually go for "I know it's there because I put it, but you could find it if you try"-kind of vibe. Would that be too subtle? Should I go full in-your-face or would that be too much?
A: It doesn't need to be in your face or anything. If it blended in to the image that totally works. For example if the AniDB logo was a statue that was decorated or something, while other stuff was going on in the picture too.

2. Q: Can there be non-English text in the banner?
A: If there is going to be a message, such as "Merry Christmas"/"Happy Holidays"/etc, it should be in English. If the image itself has some Japanese/Chinese/etc in the background as part of the image, that is okay, but it should not be prominent. This post was edited by CDB-Man (560966) on 22.11.2018 18:40.

Luckily I can read some Chinese. Translation:

Looks like I can't from Baidu unless I create an and also their software.
Instead, if you can make the following changes to the text, the rest is good! Less text is better, so I shortened the message.

zka41101959: Hi, one more thing and it will be perfect. The correct way to say Merry Christmas in Japanese is メリークリスマス (the only case where the pronunciation is shortened is メリクリ)

An attempt. Far from what I expect would be ideal for a Patreon banner but it's the first thing I wanted to make.

I found a better image on pixiv. Didn't expect to but I did.
I hope switching my submission like this isn't against the rules. If it is, I'll take it down and repost it tomorrow.

@zka41101959: worf highlighted there's a typo (by me) in the banner: "uncertainly" --> "uncertainty". Just edit your post with the update.

One small issue with that one though, it doesn't show Bruce Willis the way he looked like back in 1988 either. He still had hair back then.
