It's been one year since we first made public the financial difficulties that AniDB was facing. Since then, our s have shown us tremendous , well exceeding our fundraising goals and ultimately lowering the burden on everyone by splitting the costs among more of our . Because of you, we only need to post on Patreon and fundraise no more than 2 or 3 times a year, instead of the original plan of once every month. Thank you everyone for your continued !!

With that, I'm pleased to announce our Christmas 2018 fundraising post, and the winner of our Patreon banner contest; congratulations aroptua and thank you for a wonderful banner!

Anyone subscribed to our Patreon campaign before this post will be charged on 01-Jan-2019 and contribute to AniDB.

Hi everyone -- The submission period is now over and we've had 6 entries into the banner contest! The voting thread is now live, and the choices are below.

It looks like we have a winner: congratulations @aroptua with submission #5!

Aroptua's banner will be used on our next fundraising post, which will be on Christmas 25-Dec-2018. If you are not already a Patreon member and want to donate to AniDB, sign up and our Patreon campaign prior to 25-Dec-2018!

1. The voting period will be from 2018-Dec-10 (after 23:00 UTC+0) to 2018-Dec-16. You may vote on as many images as you like.
2. If we suspect vote stuffing, then the staff will take this into consideration when looking at the results, and discard entries if needed.
3. In the unlikely event of a tie, a runoff vote will be held from 2018-Dec-17 to 2018-Dec-20 for all images coming first place in the original vote. Each will only get 1 vote in the runoff.
4. In the even-more unlikely event of a tie in the runoff vote, the AniDB staff will decide the winner.

aroptua's are all especially great. #5 is my favorite for sure – simple, classy, and cozy.

Only issue with #5 I have is that the text isn't centered.

My favorite is #6, he put a lot of work into it and that's why I choose Deth93.

I wanted to make a banner for this so badly too, but my dominant hand is in a cast until the 19th thanks to me stupidly shattering my middle finger

I like the entries, though, they're all very heartwarming (well, except for Die Hard, which is more on the goofball end of the spectrum - Bruce Willis' Holidays inevitably involve more bullets than xmas spirit ).

Surprised there weren't a lot more - I was kind of expecting at least 100+.
