A sequel to the hilarious animation about an animation studio, Animation Runner Kuromi. Not entirely a long-run series treat, but these cute little OVAs give a complete thought, and some of the funniest slapstick comedy alongside.
Kuromi's back!
Now that her first production was a success, Mikiko (also known as Kuromi, thanks to the efforts of her new studio manager) is now asked to work on three animes at the same time! Absolutely dumbfounded, this rookie animation runner steps aside as a professional enters the studio to make sure the process moves quickly...a little too quickly. And it had to be at this time that Shihonmatsu stops smoking!
I think the plot in Animation Runner Kuromi 2 is much more interesting from the beginning than in it's predecessor. With a satisfying conclusion, trying to say anything else about the story would spoil the number of wacky surprises that arise over the next half-hour.
I would love to see this story as a TV series; I think the only hold back of this OVA is the size. However, this probably makes me hunger more for another sequel, which I wouldn't be surprised to see be released within the next few years.
Funny ass characters. From the beginning to the end I damn near died laughing because of the number of silly jokes that surround this story. Kuromi probably has the most charisma of all of them, with her bright and loud personality. The artists lack the amount of development that Kuromi gets, but they have plenty of wisecracks to make up for it (as well as vampire dolls and smoking pencils.)
I felt there was improvement on the animation as a whole, even though both this anime and it's prequel have superb animation. I think what I like the most is the improvement of coloring since 2001, as well as the quality of encodes that are available from fansubs. Character designs remain overall the same, but knowing the universe of this anime, it's wild as hell anyways. :-P
The vocals are nothing to complain about in this anime, ever. It's always great to hear Kuromi's daikawaii bishoujo seiyuu blurt out her commands. Oh, and Shihonmatsu's voice actress has to have one of the most relaxed, paced Japanese voices I have ever heard.
Not much for background music. The one opening theme is a fun little beat, but it's nothing worth looking into. Likewise for the rest of the music. I would just say that this music s the anime at it's best.
Good for those who liked the prequel - good for a big crowd.
Rewatchability is low again, since it's nothing quite as interesting to watch a second time. It might be worth keeping this to watch with a family member, or someone who would like to see an anime about anime. That could get any otaku's attention. ^_^
I can only bar people who don't like silly animation, simple stories, or short and sweet OVAs. Everyone else can find something to appreciate from this movie series.
