After the 5 episodes ova, the movie turns out to be better and also has a more serious story without losing the typical atmosphere.

The animation is better than the ova, and looks very nice. The characters are the same as ever, but there are more actionscenes which are animated pretty well.

The voices and music are good as usual, so not much to tell about those.

The story is done well, without too much exaggeration, but with just enough drama to keep things interesting. The comedy parts from the ova are almost completely gone, since this movie focuses more on the drama part. And does that pretty well.

The characters are done well, but Celestine lacks quite some character development. Same goes for Peorta (I think) who looks like she has a big role in the movie, but it never gets anywhere. Still, the other characters look good enough to be able to give this a nice mark.

I liked this movie better than the ova for some reason. Perhaps because everyone is already introduced and now we can start with a real story instead of introducing new characters without developing the rest.
While the ova was more like a comedy/romance, this is the real romance/drama they have to offer. Plenty of enjoyment watching this one

I agree with Gambit...this really puts into focus the issues in Oh My Goddess!, but it still lacks a little care with the story's development.

For example, in the OVA's there was too much exaggeration involved in the main conflict, therefore the story was cut short of a romantic potentiality. However, the movie gives an actual serious crisis that develops characters significantly more, as well as establishes the real relationship between Morisato and Belldandy.

As usual, the kawaii goddesses ^_^, and plenty of goofy scenes to make the story as cute as before. There was a little more action in the movie, mostly because of the crisis. Belldandy's mentor, Celestin, returns - but the Heavens are searching desperately for him. Obviously he is up to something, and from the looks of it, Belldandy will get involved...the conflict is suspenseful at the beginning, but one can easily detect the stories outcome later on, thus it doesn't retain the mysterious aspect for a long time. In the end, the movie just proves that love is a connection that the Heavens or Earth should never tamper with. A cute ending with some joyful humor makes the simple story very charming.

The character development improved significantly from the OVAs. Because of the sequence of events, the relationship between Morisato and Belldandy undergoes serious hardship, and thus each character has a certain revelation about them that makes them more understandable and human.

Though the movie is riveting, its meaning loses interst rapidly, and thus can only be watched a few times before it gets significantly boring. Nothing about the story was thoughtfully appealing, but really just an emotional love drama that would be great to watch with a significant other.

A lot better than the 5 part OVA. Character development and the overlaying plot is a lot more interesting and serious. The visuals are really good, both in animation and design. The music does it's part, especially toward the end. The voice work is just as good and stable as the series (heck, it's the same). The movie had a somewhat more "epic" feel to it (especially in lieu of the more comedic aspect of the 2005 remake), mostly because of the climax toward the end.

This is obviously a movie sequel for those who enjoyed the OVA (or even the 2005 remake), but I can also slightly recommend it to those who disliked the series because it lacked the romance it was supposed to be built upon, as this movie has more development in that category (relatively that is). Therefore, it's not really only for fans, but you probably have to see either the OVA or the 2005 remake series beforehand, or else you will feel lost either way.
