Anime: Konjiki no Gash Bell!! 2p6h4o

it was indeed a good anime
characters voice was so good specially gash and Kiyomaro.
they came to life with their voice, if Kiyomaro Seiyuu wasnt... he would become kind of dull
and when gash Seiyuu changed it was as if that character is not gash at all!

but i believe last episodes were not as good as its manga
manga has a better story than anime, Faudo fight is so breathtaking and well organized in manga, the fact that Kiyomaro almost died in order to save japan or gash was able to change barrty heart like that!!

however i believe manga was far better than anime

i really wanted to see whats in manga s anime, the battles were fierce and not as happy go lucky as it was in anime.

Animation: it wasnt anything special but it wasn't bad either

Sound:as i said before it was one of this anime strong point, even umagon sound for saying meru meru was really suitable!

Story: last episodes has made really disappointed, im still wonder why did the changed that goooood story in manga to an ordinary kid version story for anime?!?

Character: each of them had its personality, its fun point and they were so lively!

Value: u wont forget this anime after seeing it! it worth it! trust me

Enjoyment: its a long anime but its enjoyable

Silly comedy, too many episodes, too many characters and despite all the flaws it still doesn't hide the fact it is one of the better shounen shows out there.

Excellent action, original characters, intense fights and plenty of time to enjoy it all. However, it also has a really odd sense of humor and incredibly odd character designs. For a comedy the series is not really accessible for everyone. At times the series is incredibly childish, while at times the show looks set as an ecchi comedy.
Still, while the show has its ups and downs in technically every aspect, it's definitely a very well executed shounen-series, with good, original fights and colorful characters.

Animation: Fairly good animation, but near the end they switch animators.

The show has a very odd character design in the first place, so it is often hard to determine whether it looks bad or is simply meant to look bad. But once you cross the 3-digit border, there comes a point where the animation flow seems to take a change of scenery; all of a sudden Kiyomaro seems to have changed appearances, albeit subtly – and a few more things you cannot point your finger at, but feel like they are different.
While not completely annoying, it is something you notice after having sat through so many episodes and while understandable – after a good 3 years of airing and a good 6 years of fansubbing it can just so happen that there are different animators or directors taking over at times – it is sometimes a little disturbing to see how things are that slightly bit different.

Does it mean the animation is then bad? No it isn't. It has great explosions and extremely well-flowing action-scenes, just as well as it takes its time to focus on angry, degenerated faces and all – it's just that the character design is so incredibly odd that it sometimes feels that you're watching something different. The biggest drawback though is the usage of reused frames, which occur on a regular base.

Sound: Extremely good voice actors.

I didn't think the voice actors were so good at first, but they do their jobs well and consistently well. Several characters have voices which break every now and then, but that seems to emphasize their appearance and behavior, so I tend to believe the voice actors do that on purpose rather than not being able to live up to the characters. However, it's certainly a feat to consistently make those breaks – especially when the series is this long.

In the last 20 episodes, there was a note from the fansubbers saying that the voice actress doing Gash was going on maternity leave, which meant that someone had to take over the leading role. I was surprised that another voice actress actually managed to come pretty close to the original voice – despite her doing several voices in the show which absolutely didn't sound even remotely close to what Gash sounds like.

BGM was done well, as far as I'm concerned and the music is also pretty nice to hear, despite it being pretty simplistic. It is, however, incredible to realize that they even created original songs which fit the characters perfectly. I can only imagine how much fun they had in coming up with the lyrics (Chichi chichi oppai, boing boing).

Story: Way too long … and yet it could have been longer.

Too long & too boring.
The show is at times way too long, with several episodes which can gloriously win the most notable filler-award for being absolutely useless. Several characters or fights are also seriously wrong; either the fight itself or more regularly, the characters are simply really wrong. And with wrong it can be two things:
Either the character has absolutely no value whatsoever to the show, the development or the character is so incredibly silly that it pains you to sit through.

Incredible pace & action.
Fights, or episode sequences like that make you wonder why you're still watching the show, but there are also times where the arc takes over and takes you along on a hellish joyride of fast-paced action with the most incredible fights you can imagine. Not in of best action, but rather in of best original action. This all due to the creativity of the numerous characters taking part in this show. And all of a sudden you find yourself 30 episodes further in a blink of an eye, just because it all seems to watch away just as easy.

Plot.
So after the comments of it being too long and the pace being really good, how about the plot?
The plot is not really anything great, but it does its work and it manages to keep the series going. Unlike many other series, Konjiki no Gash Bell stays on its tracks most of the time and doesn't really sidetrack much more than focusing on some other main characters finding themselves in solo fights. So aside of the fillers mostly involving Naomi, there are no subplots – or at least, only subplots which eventually end up with the main story. This helps a lot in keeping tuned to the series and because of the fast pace, it is easy to keep watching. Good arcs take easily an episode or 30-40, sometimes not even including the preparation towards the arc.

So while the story itself is not offering much, the way the story paces itself and the way of presenting it towards the watcher, it is very well done.

The end comes way too soon.
The only problem lies in the last arc, where they decided to stop the show. Since episode 138 they seem to have shifted away from the manga and decide on an ending themselves, since the manga still continues after that. While the final battle isn't all that bad, there is still some feeling of unfinished business hanging on after that and the final conclusion is not much more than fanservice for anyone who hung on for all the 150 episodes.

So even after I stated that 150 episodes is incredibly long and sometimes too long for the show, I found myself willing to watch another 100 more after having finished the series. It's not that it's addictive, but because the pace is so well formed and if you like the comedy the show offers, it is so incredibly easy to digest that you simply don't realize that you've sat through a whopping 150 episodes.

Characters: Extremely creative, but not always for the better.

The characters are in the first place, truly original. Gash, Professor Riddle, Folgore – every single one of them makes a smashing impact and you never really bother wondering how the hell they could come up with such incredibly original characters. And this many, even. In the 150 episodes the series counts, there are plenty of characters involved. Because out of the 100 demons the show starts with, most of them also have a human partner, oftentimes just as much a character which is a stunning original.
One would imagine that the originality would dry up after a while, but on the contrary – the series continues to push out unimaginable characters one after another – all the way up to the end, although one is probably a bit less impressed by then.

Original characters
A few to point out would be Professor Riddle, a genius who is also a bold liar and comes up with the most ridiculous quests or questions, only to tease people. Or what to think of the Italian singer Folgore, who has stormed the hit-charts with his songs about groping boobs?
My personal favorite would still be the intense character who's obsessed with melons though – especially considering the fact that he has his own themesong, just like a few others you come across. That, and the guard in Faudo, who showers the heroes with questions as were it an RPG. Incredibly funny and incredibly original in how the show continues.

Extremely bad characters
When the majority of the characters is incredibly odd, the show also hosts some extremely bad characters. Some are merely annoying, but others are so incredible stupid that you simply want to fast forward. Unfortunately some of them are there to stay, like the onesided love interest from the girl Mizuno. I can't how many times I have prayed for her to disappear – perhaps with one of the UFO's another classmate tries to summon on a daily base – but she never goes away.
Monmon is another of these characters the show could do without. Clearly unrelated to the show, the series suddenly becomes something where one would simply turn off the tv without hesitating. Luckily this character gets introduced only very late in the series and doesn't make that many appearances.

Personalities
But aside of the numerous characters and the originality, what about the personalities of said characters? Technically, most of the main characters don't really evolve in of personality. They already have the traits and despite them getting character development, they don't really grow. The best they do is getting more determined, or more convinced to do the best they can – something you might from many other series – and gaining more spells that way. The funny part? The show doesn't exactly need the main characters to evolve; they're good by themselves already.

Value & Enjoyment: A show with its ups and downs.

Konjiki no Gash Bell certainly has its ups and downs, but they will most likely be different for everyone, due to the variety of silly comedy in the show. For instance, while one can appreciate the cosplaying professor, others would get seriously annoyed by him. Therefore, the show has a lot to offer, but it's always a hit or miss when it comes to the comedy-part.
What doesn't change is the fact that this show is clearly one of the better shounen series out there, with excellent fights, extremely original characters and plenty of time to watch. While I doubt people would actually buy this series, it is plenty of fun to watch for both kids and adults. Although one might wonder why a series so obviously aimed at kids would have songs about groping boobs.

Konjiki no Gash...One of the most underrated and least seen anime of the year 2003. A great anime that manages to make a new niche in the cliched genre. Nice job, Toei animation!

Animation: This is where the anime stands out. Characters actually MOVE, unlike other anime's in this genre (Naruto, Pokemon, all-those-human-with monster-pet-must-save-world-anime). The spells look fluid, and mouth movements and character movements have no blocky look or forced cells. A gripe would be the sometimes too uncanny use of repeated cells.

Sound: Zakeru! Zap! All sounds are very faithfully represented. The OP and ED were both well done, and Takamine's voice is so cool. Other than Suginami from Da Capo, I think Takamine has one of the best seiyuus. Add in some in episode soundtracks, Konjiki no Gash has a lot to offer in the sound department.

Story: The weak point of the anime. It was too cliched. 100 demons come to human world, duke it out till one is left to be king. Although the side plots are interesting enough to divert attention from the main story.

Character: Takamine is one of the reasons to watch this show. Period. Although Gash is very likable, he gets very annoying with his take charge attitude. Mizuno is a bit disturbing, but a very developed character. Tio and Megumi round out a very developed cast of characters.

Value: Well worth the from the numerous IRC channels out there. The first episode is a work of genius, and draws people into the action. Very recommended.

Enjoyment: I thouroughly enjoyed Konjiki no Gash Bell. Animation is there, music is great, has cool characters, what isn't there to enjoy?

Bottom Line: Konjiki no Gash Bell is one of the best underdog animes of the year 2003. If you're looking for lighthearted comedy with morals built in, then go on to anime empire and start ing!
