Barakamon is an anime full with comedy show that will surprise you. I'd been looking forward to seeing the series since it came out. Who could have guessed that this anime will pin my interest? I'm always looking for a masterpiece anime to watch, but anime series nowadays lack of the urgency and thematic depth to show. On the contrary, Barakamon show the opposite; which would be a good example.

Story 9/10
This story is about Seishuu Handa voiced by (Daisuke Ono), a young man full of enthusiasm for his job as a calligrapher. He has quite high ego because of his skill as an artist. His work is considered to be perfect since Handa has an outstanding talent. It becomes quite interesting when the director of an exhibition criticizes his work of lacking in a personal touch and it's not really that great as Handa expected. This is when Handa lost his temper and give a full power punch filled with rage to the old man. Which resulting Handa has been sent to an island near Kyushu to cool down and rest for a while from his work as calligrapher. His father has a house build on that island. As soon as he arrives at the Goto Island, he already is welcomed by a tomboyish little girl named Naru who has been staying at the house all this time. Here, Handa who think himself as perfect by not allowing other people fix his life or do something with his temper but slowly grew in fixing it for himself. Lives on the island can be a good lesson for Handa.

Character 8/10
Handa actually is a good person but lack the determination as he doesn't really have a friend except his family and one best friend who don't expect him to be successful as a calligrapher at first. Indeed Handa can be considered perfect since he is a good looking, wealthy and is living a dream. Lacking of Hardship also with no real friend to be expected as one of factor why Handa doesn't pay attention to attitude or behavior. Handa begin to trust his only opinion and ditch other from his life. Thus, Handa have a hard time when it come to dealing with the others and find it frustrated. Sometime Handa behavior is more immature than Naru's as the story goes on. Handa acts like a kid who doesn’t need a help from his parents, and yet Handa become a real man by the end of series. Eventually, Handa personality begins to soften and becomes gentle to the others. The island's population is not too much but they all act like family to each of them. Handa finds out that it is nice to have people to rely on which also give him inspiration to be a better person and a better calligrapher.

Naru who also finds Handa quite attracted just as he comes to the island, is slowly by slowly trying to become his close friend even though she's still a kid. The kid always hang out and follow Handa every chance she get. I also find it refreshing when the villagers all age accept Handa without prejudice even though Hiroshi (High school student) think he is just a pretty face but worthless. Nevertheless, kid, old man, high school student and no matter what gender become close to Handa like a family in no time. This will be a train place for Handa to achieve his dream and to build up his behavior and attitude. Since yeah, even if you angry, will you punch some helpless old man? It become quite drama. I even shed tear. Yes sad tears, just one word, I cried because of sadness that build up in myself. I feel like it reflects me who don’t feel anything at first but if you really think it, it just feels like you punch your parent itself. If your parent has been punch by someone, can you still sit and watching without feeling anything? That's more than enough a reason for me to feel guilty, I can't bear it. Well, enough with me being a crybaby here. Back to the main story. Handa will get into a sticky situation after sticky situation with Naru, Hiroshi and high school student girl as long as he in the island. At the end of the series, it's not only Handa who learn from his mistake, yes, I am talking about myself too. I need to build up more my attitude itself. This is what I call learning while watching. Genius isn't it?

Enjoyment and Overall 9/10
I found this series concept is pretty amazing. Slightly it teaches you how to behave with people who are older than you. Not like some people out there who don't give a damn over this matter. I, without a doubt found it really interesting. I really enjoyed the series since episode 1 though it's rare to see flawless but it's all thanks to the good work by producer. They have successful build a good anime series. This series also quite entertaining since I always laugh out hard each episode with all the character behavior. A good anime with a lot of creativity here. You feel like want to watch it again after all. Handa mother will also play important part later and among the funniest part. Enjoy it to your full heart content. Also make sure you have a tissue paper too. Believe me. I have no regrets after watching the series. I actually find it quite fun to watch.
