Hi everyone,

Spring has arrived! For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, it's time to come out of winter hibernation. For those of us in Japan, or those of us fortunate to have them in your country, spring is when we take part in hanami (花見, "flower viewing"), the Japanese traditional custom of enjoying the transient beauty of flowers, especially of sakura (cherry blossom) trees! Hanami is a fun spring activity that can be enjoyed safely as we round out 1 full year of COVID-19, and we get to enjoy the weather and the lush pink scenary!

Thank you again to all of our Patreon ers for keeping us alive. As mentioned during the 2020 Summer campaign, this spring we will be refilling the AniDB bank with a new fundraising Patreon post.

1. Anyone can participate, both Patrons and regular s.
2. The submission period will be open from 2021-Mar-29 Monday to 2021-Apr-17 Saturday.
3. Each may submit, at most, 1 picture per day.
4. To enter your submission, simply reply to this AniDB forum thread with your picture.
   1. your image to one of the whitelisted image hosts. imgur.com is preferred. Whitelisted hosts: abload.de, tinypic.com, flickr.com, imgsafe.org, imgur.com, ipfs.pics, photobucket.com, picload.org, postimage.org, puu.sh
   2. Embed your image in your reply using the image tags.
   3. If you wish to make an anonymous submission, send an AniDB forum PM to CDB-Man instead.
5. The voting period will be from 2021-Apr-18 Sunday to 2021-Apr-24 Saturday. You may vote on as many images as you like.
6. If we suspect vote stuffing, then the staff will take this into consideration when looking at the results, and discard entries if needed.
7. In the unlikely event of a tie, a runoff vote will be held from 2021-Apr-25 Sunday to 2021-Apr-29 Thursday for all images coming first place in the original vote. Each will only get 1 vote in the runoff.
8. In the even-more unlikely event of a tie in the runoff vote, the AniDB staff will decide the winner.

1. Submit an AniDB anime image that will be used as the banner on our Patreon fundraising post. The banner should tie in this contest's theme (as described above) with both anime and AniDB.
2. You are allowed to use the AniDB logo in your image, and it is encouraged!
3. Original content is preferred, but not mandatory.
4. Since the images will be posted on our public Patreon page, all images must be family-friendly, for all ages.
   1. 18+ / adult images will not be accepted.
   2. For borderline / ecchi images, the staff (mainly CDB-Man) will have sole discretion to accept or reject the submission. Note: we will lean on the more conservative side.
5. You are allowed to sign your image with your name (and optionally, your AniDB ID). Please have the signature in the bottom-right corner.
6. All images should be submitted in PNG format to comply with Patreon's requirements.
7. For a Patreon post, a 16:9 ratio image would fit best.
8. Images should be high resolution, 1080 x 1920 at minimum.
9. We reserve the right to disqualify images that don't meet minimum quality standards.

More than glad to help keep the site up for another season. The world might have been extra crap this past year, but AniDB definitely helps people in it's own way... as cliche/badly worded as that sounds.

Got a question from someone looking to submit a banner, where the logo sources can be found. I did some digging, and found the source files, so sharing with everyone.

I think everyone in this website knows what sakura means, so you didn’t need to explain it.

and try to make the text a bit more even and fitting. I'm still not that good with paint.net and that's the full extend of what im capable of.

Oh boy, here's my first (and probably last) submission.
Be aware that this started out as a meme, but I spend so much time working on it that I'm actually rolling with it now:



Girl is Shariki no Kyojin and if you look closely there are some more.

@zyon: text colouring is definitely better! Not sure if the square or rectangle logo looks better, both work; I'll go with the 2nd one for the submission.

As to your question on font: unfortunately I don't know what's the actual font. However, if you install something like GIMP (open source alternative to Photoshop) you should be able to open the touch.psd file for the square logo, and find out the font.

Not sure which is better either, although i thing the second one looks a bit more fitting to the text since it all one line each.
Will tr< that with Gimp, but im really no expert in that stuff. Only learned a bit stuff i needed myself. and even that is like a half year or year ago and i forgot almost everything.

edit: tried it, if gimp can do that i have no idea how. i couldn't find anything with it.

That would be the result. I have no idea, ill leave you the choice which one to use for the submission. So take whatever you like the most.
Tried that website too, but for me it didn't offer any useful results.
I hope this is okay and doesn't count as second image, since its still the same picture and only the font changed. Otherwise ill repost it tomorrow.
Its definitely my last edit for the time. Unless people really point out that they want the other logo instead or so.

No need to re-post, you're iterating the same submission and I'm only going to take one of them anyways, probably the last one!

A quick note to say that I'm still planning to post the voting thread this evening; just very busy at work right now. Given that it looks we only have 2 submissions, I doubt we will need a runoff.

If we do get a submission between now and when I put up the vote, happy to accept that submission.
