Much faster paced than the original, liked it quite a bit better as it no longer feels as if you are being dragged along for incremental advancements to the story. The stylized animation and action sequences are top notch as well.
I loved the premise though the series slowed down for me after they were no longer running for their lives, still very weird and a little gross (when thinking about all the things he's doing with his bodily fluids)
A nice continuation, a slightly different approach from the first season, which I find to be a step down. Nice progression overall looking forward to a s3.
I wasn't originally planning on watching it but when I found a meme on discord linking it to the DR series. House so I figured I'd watch it since I grew up on House.
I have to say it's more or less similar to house but I miss his sarcastic humor that he used to be known for and always knew how to make me laugh, this way it's just one big drama/tragedy with nothing to lighten it up and I don't enjoy watching that.
The FMC doctor was annoying with her behaviour and the side characters didn't impress me much either. Compared to house it's half the length so in most of the ep. right in the middle the cause was clear and by the end of the ep. it was just explaining how it all happened. That's so the whole animation wasn't bad, the OP didn't impress me but I liked the ED (at least something) for me 6/10
PS: detective kimiyasu bears a striking resemblance to detective columbo. For myself, I'd rather stick with house.
You have a FL, who is an unknowing participant in a terrible act, finding herself, overcoming her weakness, plotting revenge against all odds, gathering companions, bearing the advances of a terrible, psychopathic man-child. Outnumbered, outmatched and not the best at what she does, but trying desperately. Fighting battle after battle on the front lines, overcoming, sacrificing, while deep inside hating her very existence. And then you have that overpowered, sheltered saintess drinking tea and ruminating about how deeply she loves her sister. Honestly, this is a great story, just the protagonist of it is not who's on the cover...
At the beginning I was thinking about 7/10 because I found it funny but I couldn't stand the female (Sylpha, Tao) characters who were always around the prince and I thought they were too old like I've seen them in other anime (Tensei Kizoku no Isekai Boukenroku). And then there was the ending where we met a group of assassins/demons and that's where it bothered me how it went into drama. So the final is 6/10 not beating the last couple of ep. I would have kept even 7. It had potential for me, the prince himself with his demon was entertaining from the beginning but in the end it wasn't enough.
It tells the story of a socially awkward protagonist as she tries to change.
Don't get me wrong, it has its moments and an okay plot, some good character development, and a pretty decent soundtrack (which carries this one a bit).
However, it just has this unnecessary push and pull vibe that holds it back at times, it definitely could have used more episodes to flesh out some of the characters. The drama, although entertaining can be a bit too much at times.
If you can get past the main character's mood swings, its a decent watch. However, be warned it can be trying at times.
Unfortunately I can't agree with the others. In the beginning it was a nice comedy though but then it turned into a drama where I didn't really care who loved who anymore, since by that time I was over the audience this anime was intended for. so i couldn't feel into the already uninteresting kids who were actually being beaten by puberty, which is why one wanted to have sex with a teacher and the other in turn sought out the pedophile who used to be her acting teacher. that's where i told myself this wasn't for me and i couldn't find it romantic. for me 4/10
Barely watchable. In the last few episodes the story plunges in quality and becomes riddled with incredible amount of lazy and cheap plot devices aiming to force a tear from you.
After watching this trash, I have come to conclusions:
1. Even among typical anime MCs, Youta made to be especially retarded. Incapable of learning and repeats his mistakes over and over, and over, and over again. Sadly, Truck-kun didn't do a decent job this time.
2. For a girl with a suicide wish, Odin is too much hooked on life. She could have forced humanity to accept her or negotiated a compromise. She should have at least tried. Alas, author decided to just ignore her character traits, robbing her of agency on the biggest plot point. The irony: she was screwed over twice, by her world and by her creator.
3. I should avoid future Maeda works. "Charlotte" was good enough, but his attempts at tragedy somehow always become a primitive cliche.
Highly recommending this one, story slowly gets better and better as it goes. The Tsukasa skating scenes are actually one of the highlight I like about. Looking forward to S2.
The only thing that bothered me is that they take it too seriously and yet it's a non-existent sport that was created just for fanservice so they don't have to hype it up that much and I don't even see a reason to become the best player at sticking their asses and breasts out. But other than that, it was more or less fine except for the last East-West competition when I didn't care anymore because the first half was enough for me anyway. for me 6/10
From what I noticed, you only picked characters that had a sad backstory and also had the best stats, what if they didn't have a sad backstory so you wouldn't have picked them? Is that my understanding that without them they would just be average people?
I don't know but I wasn't entertained by the plot, the characters weren't anything special either and I'm not interested in a sequel. The only thing I liked was the OP. for me 6/10
I don't like the last story about the bakery-boy. It's too "forced" here, I think. The rest of the anime is a great philosophical treatise on thinking and people's attitudes towards each other and towards science/believe during the religious dictatorship of the Middle Ages. Very good atmosphere and art... At one time in the past I was very irritated and disappointed by "talk anime genre" because of the Kemono-series(Bakemonogatari and so on). Many praised it, it has a good rating, but I hated this colorful circus pathos of that anime. But then stories like this one corrected my attitude and now I can happily recommend it to everyone else. There will be no fantasy or science fiction. Magic or action. There will be thinking.
Too bad it doesn't have that many ep. like Urusei Yatsura but otherwise I liked it and I'm glad that I can watch the old anime in a new coat and maybe even more faithful to the original. for me 8/10
It was very generic, a bit blunt, but peaceful at the same time. What annoyed me the most was the simplistic language. It's definitely targeted at middle schoolers.
Definitely not as strong as season two, but still GOOD!
This season focuses HEAVILY on the absolutely grotesque and weird of the witch cult. The animation still delivers and the few new characters that are added, are a fine addition to the story. Some side characters take the main stage as well as our main characters! Some things gets answered, but somethings are unfortunately still left hanging.
ACTION and gore definitely take the center stage, as the plot is a bit more simpler this time around. It definitely felt like a build-up season for more interesting things to come. If you can stomach the patience and wait (who knows maybe another 3 to 5 years?), for season 4, I'd recommend it, but yeah we all know that your most likely going to watch anyway.
Even as one of the weaker seasons, it definitely had its moments. It continues to deliver.
I miss this type of anime. The like of Ninja Scroll, Wicked City and even Perfect Blue. When anime was about telling an adult story for adult. Not the censored, juvenile, fanservecey we see nowadays.
They tried to copy JoJo's wacky style of anime.
I would only recommend this if you're a fan of fighting games or you like Guilty Gear. For a normal anime lover, this is a .
The story really starts to develop but this season falls short in a few ways.
The formula is the same but it just feels a bit off.
Still worth watching, if you're invested in the characters or story.
It's good but looses a lot of steam in the latter half of the story.
Ending didn't turn out quite as expected but still good in it's own right. Not perfect, and for this reason little more realistic but little less acceptable personally. It's a story about magic trees, why the hell would you go for realistic ending?
I mean, at some point it already became a fully fledged time paradox, so why not go for a few more with the aim to save everyone and overwrite history and Aika's decision, since we already crossed that bridge and fked the timeline? Alas, their choice is disappointing.
Such a classic. Perfect for relaxing. The beginning is fine, in the middle comes a classic dramatic twist, before the end a dramatic denouement and it ends with a happy ending. most movies work like that. Which is a shame, as I'd love to finally watch a comedy, not just melodramas and dramas. for me 6/10
A magical girl show that turns into cosmic horror. After reflecting on what happens here, this is one of the most well done psychological horror fiction works. It's surprising that this does not rely much on violence, rather on appealing to existentalism and human condition.
The stereotypical middle of road Isekai. Instead this time around the MC is the inhabitant of a fantasy world that gets "Teleported" to another fantasy world. As far as uniqueness goes, that's basically it.
Expect the usual tropes. OP MC decides to chill instead of taking on the "Big bad". The expected overuse of female characters is HEAVILY present as well. The narrative of coexistence with different species is also touched on, somewhat.
Overall not awful, but not great. Definitely a "Mid-sekai". Come into this with litte expectations and you might have some fun.
It's mostly a slice of life, with a bit of comedy, and a slow romance as background. The theme is nothing new: a country girl makes her debut in a Tokyo high school. The main character is rather interesting, with a peculiar mind and a distinctive voice in the original soundtrack. The best part of the show was some secondary characters and their interactions.
It could have been much better. The male lead is at often bland, and his backstory feels so fake it's hard to relate. The last third of the series (a school festival) was also lacking inspiration. I'll try the S2, and hope they've regained some steam.
Genuinely a very good anime.
The plot is good. Character development is good.
Some light hearted comedy here and there.
Some serious moments help balance everything out.
The art style is good and overall it has long been one of my favorite animes.
Currently rewatching for like the 10th time.
Nowadays if anyone wants to learn something, they can obtain it through a book, online, asking someone, etc., but this takes place during the medieval times where those conveniences weren't possible. This follows a group of characters and their collaboration between religion and science. All the characters are solid, but the stand out is Nowak (villain), he's down-to-earth and thinks his methods are right, but is ruthless... a complex character. The overall journey was thought-provoking and solid, although I wasn't a fan of the final episodes. In the end, this series asks the question of "what would you do for the pursuit of knowledge?"... endure torture, risk being shunned or death? Most wouldn't, but this series explores that.
Much much worse than S1 and that is no small feet.
Author trained to perfection his ability of Turning a Good Story into shit.
There are mini-arcs of 3-4 episodes each. They follow the same pattern: first episodes take their time to properly setup an exposition for an action packed arc-finale. Sometimes it's a good setup, sometimes even great. Doesn't matter, the final will always be an idiotic plot-holed garbage. Get ready for an alien boss speech, I shit you not, he's gonna say to you that he is the best possible ruler of the universe because he does not have genitals.
Jesus wept bloody tears and I wept with him.
Cherry on cake:
EP9 the Damsel-girl jumps from the ship into a lava lake to "save" her boyfriend from impossible trolley problem every moral-kun dread. Therefore, she values her boyfriend conscience MORE than the life and safety of the little girl she was hugging for an hour.
It had its moments but i felt it was a disappointment. There is no "proper" ending for it. The series ends quite abruptly which is surprising considering there is no second season to follow up on the different relationships.
Overall you won't miss out on anything if you don't watch it.
Recommended for those isekai fans that also like their harems. This one is, ittedly, less obnoxious in its execution than most. A 3/10 score in general is understandable, while those mentioning scores of 6/10 or higher are definitely rating it in its particular niche.
It has all those great things in the setting, in the setup, in the bigger story, but it absolutely squanders them in the little things, because almost all of the characters on Yamato act not as a spacefarers on a mission, but as a bunch of inept retarded children on a school excursion.
The worst is Kodai and his girlfriend.
Dude is constant screwup, he should have been stripped of his position after Enceladus, where he failed to order a fighter sortie BEFORE the enemy arrived.
Girl is an Eternal Damsel, who exists to show us her vagina covered by the thin tight-fitting suit. In the long corridors of a giant space battleship she managed to stumble on the enemy boarding party on TWO(!!!) separate occasions and both times totally unprepared.
I could go on about other clowns, but you get the picture already. It's THAT bad. Makes it just barely watchable. They should have fixed all those in the remake but failed to do that.
This one is much better than OVA because, for once, Yamato crew have their shit together and act accordingly to their stations. Thank the space witches for that.
It would be even better, if Gatlantis here were not such a shameless cheap counterfeit copy of Klingons. It's something that was fixed in the next season, but there is a bunch of bigger problems with that one.
An interesting watch. Villainess/isekai/game type anime have a way of drawing a diverse audience when done well and this one is no exception. A pleasant way to spend a few hours if one is a fan of Villainesses not being very villainous but still trying hard at it.
