Boboboubo Boubobo |
Back in the day when this was on Toonami (before its cancellation and subsequent revival) I used to love tuning in to whatever nonsense Bobobo and the gang where up to. Given the nature of television I couldn't always catch every episode on time due to prior obligations or what have you. Now that I own the complete series on Blu-ray I've been enjoying taking a trip down memory lane. It's definitely got that mid-2000s "lol randum" humor that might not be for everybody. But if you're looking for some stoner anime of the comedic variety, it's a great show to kick back and relax with your mates by your side.

Hellsing (2006) |
What can I say that hasn't already been said? This is a great adaptation if you're looking for something that's faithful to the source material. I would say that Alucard was a breath of fresh air compared to vampire media coming out around it's time, but that in itself is as cliche as the "still a better love story than Twilight" meme said time period spawned. So I will say this. If you love vampires, werewolves, Vatican supersoldiers, the "ghostapo" trope, references to obscure alchemical texts and western esotericism in general, then this one's for you. Definitely the perfect choice of anime to watch for Halloween as well if you're feeling festive around October.

After finally sitting down to watch the whole series, I can see why it's so critically acclaimed. Which it is rightfully so if you ask me. The mecha on kaiju action is on point even when it takes a backseat for the character study aspects to flourish. Definitely pick this up if you're a fan of giant robots, western esotericism, secret societies and magi/technobabble that sounds like it makes sense on a quantum level.

Much faster paced than the original, liked it quite a bit better as it no longer feels as if you are being dragged along for incremental advancements to the story. The stylized animation and action sequences are top notch as well.

Ameku Takao no Suiri Karte |
I wasn't originally planning on watching it but when I found a meme on discord linking it to the DR series. House so I figured I'd watch it since I grew up on House.
I have to say it's more or less similar to house but I miss his sarcastic humor that he used to be known for and always knew how to make me laugh, this way it's just one big drama/tragedy with nothing to lighten it up and I don't enjoy watching that.
The FMC doctor was annoying with her behaviour and the side characters didn't impress me much either. Compared to house it's half the length so in most of the ep. right in the middle the cause was clear and by the end of the ep. it was just explaining how it all happened. That's so the whole animation wasn't bad, the OP didn't impress me but I liked the ED (at least something) for me 6/10
PS: detective kimiyasu bears a striking resemblance to detective columbo. For myself, I'd rather stick with house.

Kanpeki Sugite Kawaige ga Nai to Kon`yaku Hakisareta Seijo wa Ringoku ni Urareru |
You have a FL, who is an unknowing participant in a terrible act, finding herself, overcoming her weakness, plotting revenge against all odds, gathering companions, bearing the advances of a terrible, psychopathic man-child. Outnumbered, outmatched and not the best at what she does, but trying desperately. Fighting battle after battle on the front lines, overcoming, sacrificing, while deep inside hating her very existence. And then you have that overpowered, sheltered saintess drinking tea and ruminating about how deeply she loves her sister. Honestly, this is a great story, just the protagonist of it is not who's on the cover...

Tensei Shitara Dai Nana Ouji Datta no de, Kimama ni Majutsu o Kiwamemasu |
At the beginning I was thinking about 7/10 because I found it funny but I couldn't stand the female (Sylpha, Tao) characters who were always around the prince and I thought they were too old like I've seen them in other anime (Tensei Kizoku no Isekai Boukenroku). And then there was the ending where we met a group of assassins/demons and that's where it bothered me how it went into drama. So the final is 6/10 not beating the last couple of ep. I would have kept even 7. It had potential for me, the prince himself with his demon was entertaining from the beginning but in the end it wasn't enough.

The poor man's "Kimi ni Todoke".
It tells the story of a socially awkward protagonist as she tries to change.
Don't get me wrong, it has its moments and an okay plot, some good character development, and a pretty decent soundtrack (which carries this one a bit).
However, it just has this unnecessary push and pull vibe that holds it back at times, it definitely could have used more episodes to flesh out some of the characters. The drama, although entertaining can be a bit too much at times.
If you can get past the main character's mood swings, its a decent watch. However, be warned it can be trying at times.

The only thing that bothered me is that they take it too seriously and yet it's a non-existent sport that was created just for fanservice so they don't have to hype it up that much and I don't even see a reason to become the best player at sticking their asses and breasts out. But other than that, it was more or less fine except for the last East-West competition when I didn't care anymore because the first half was enough for me anyway. for me 6/10

From what I noticed, you only picked characters that had a sad backstory and also had the best stats, what if they didn't have a sad backstory so you wouldn't have picked them? Is that my understanding that without them they would just be average people?
I don't know but I wasn't entertained by the plot, the characters weren't anything special either and I'm not interested in a sequel. The only thing I liked was the OP. for me 6/10

I don't like the last story about the bakery-boy. It's too "forced" here, I think. The rest of the anime is a great philosophical treatise on thinking and people's attitudes towards each other and towards science/believe during the religious dictatorship of the Middle Ages. Very good atmosphere and art... At one time in the past I was very irritated and disappointed by "talk anime genre" because of the Kemono-series(Bakemonogatari and so on). Many praised it, it has a good rating, but I hated this colorful circus pathos of that anime. But then stories like this one corrected my attitude and now I can happily recommend it to everyone else. There will be no fantasy or science fiction. Magic or action. There will be thinking.

Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu (2024) |
Definitely not as strong as season two, but still GOOD!
This season focuses HEAVILY on the absolutely grotesque and weird of the witch cult. The animation still delivers and the few new characters that are added, are a fine addition to the story. Some side characters take the main stage as well as our main characters! Some things gets answered, but somethings are unfortunately still left hanging.
ACTION and gore definitely take the center stage, as the plot is a bit more simpler this time around. It definitely felt like a build-up season for more interesting things to come. If you can stomach the patience and wait (who knows maybe another 3 to 5 years?), for season 4, I'd recommend it, but yeah we all know that your most likely going to watch anyway.
Even as one of the weaker seasons, it definitely had its moments. It continues to deliver.

It's good but looses a lot of steam in the latter half of the story.
Ending didn't turn out quite as expected but still good in it's own right. Not perfect, and for this reason little more realistic but little less acceptable personally. It's a story about magic trees, why the hell would you go for realistic ending?
I mean, at some point it already became a fully fledged time paradox, so why not go for a few more with the aim to save everyone and overwrite history and Aika's decision, since we already crossed that bridge and fked the timeline? Alas, their choice is disappointing.

Such a classic. Perfect for relaxing. The beginning is fine, in the middle comes a classic dramatic twist, before the end a dramatic denouement and it ends with a happy ending. most movies work like that. Lv2 kara Cheat Datta Moto Yuusha Kouho no Mattari Isekai Life |
The story of a man and his CLINGY WOLF.
The stereotypical middle of road Isekai. Instead this time around the MC is the inhabitant of a fantasy world that gets "Teleported" to another fantasy world. As far as uniqueness goes, that's basically it.
Expect the usual tropes. OP MC decides to chill instead of taking on the "Big bad". The expected overuse of female characters is HEAVILY present as well. The narrative of coexistence with different species is also touched on, somewhat.
Overall not awful, but not great. Definitely a "Mid-sekai". Come into this with litte expectations and you might have some fun.

It's mostly a slice of life, with a bit of comedy, and a slow romance as background. The theme is nothing new: a country girl makes her debut in a Tokyo high school. The main character is rather interesting, with a peculiar mind and a distinctive voice in the original soundtrack. The best part of the show was some secondary characters and their interactions.
It could have been much better. The male lead is at often bland, and his backstory feels so fake it's hard to relate. The last third of the series (a school festival) was also lacking inspiration. I'll try the S2, and hope they've regained some steam.

Nowadays if anyone wants to learn something, they can obtain it through a book, online, asking someone, etc., but this takes place during the medieval times where those conveniences weren't possible. This follows a group of characters and their collaboration between religion and science. All the characters are solid, but the stand out is Nowak (villain), he's down-to-earth and thinks his methods are right, but is ruthless... a complex character. The overall journey was thought-provoking and solid, although I wasn't a fan of the final episodes. In the end, this series asks the question of "what would you do for the pursuit of knowledge?"... endure torture, risk being shunned or death? Most wouldn't, but this series explores that.

Give this "Dad-sekai" a chance!
Its a very DIFFERENT format on the genre. Most MC's are usually OP in this genre, but they do it differently in this one. The now foster parent MC, takes care of some REALLY STRONG children.
You'd think this would be a a total meme and not gonna lie at times it is. However, this managed to have the PERFECT RATIO of plot, vibes and a little bit of action. Despite the abundance of "Look! The kids are being cute" moments, and trust me there's a lot. It doesn't take away from the CHARM of this story.
Although it is very light, it manages to have some plot as well. Honestly was not expecting much out of this one and left a bit surprised and wanting more. I really wouldn't mind a second season.
