The concept of a socially awkward guy that starts to open up when he interacts with the popular girl has been done numerous times and what always makes or breaks this are the characters... and fortunately, the characters here are solid. There are many wholesome moments throughout and despite the pacing being slow at times, this romance series was good overall.

Anna reminds me of a big kind cat. I can't help but draw parallels with Komi-san, but I do truly think this one is executed better as it touches upon MC's depression/isolation from others and overthinking things could ruin ones' life. I am happy there is another season where we would probably see the mutual feelings of main heroes grow.

Absolutely wonderful series. It starts off a little iffy, but that's only setting the scene properly. The characters' growth towards one another and the gradual revealing of their personality and traits is well timed and not forced.
Really top notch romance series that has its own real personality. If you enjoy these sorts of series, you'll not regret a moment of this. Can't wait for season 2.

Frankly, this is up there with Spice and Wolf for one of the best developing romances in fiction.
As a comedy it's a 9/10. But as a Romance, and overall, it's a 10/10.
It takes on 'love in the early teens' in a slow, deliberate manner, with the end result being something that's incredibly realistic. You're able to share in Ichikawa's emotions throughout the season, the writing is so detailed that many scenes would have hints you'll miss on a first- (e.g. it's no coincidence Yamada starts and stops shaking the bag of seasoning in mcdonald's).
This should be watched by everyone.

This series is a gradual uncertain romance where the main protagonist starts off in a bad place, we never really learn why the love interest also forms feelings for the main protagonist but we never learn why. In regards to the romance itself it feels one sided where the girl way more considerate than the guy, usually going above an beyond what the main protagonist does almost as if he's disinterested.
I still enjoyed the watch, just wish it was a little more than one sided.

This is one of the romcom that had a great mc with a great character development, its pretty much a casual relaxing anime sit down enjoy.
Very nice character design.
Weirdly enough I think if those situation were actually irl, the protagonist would be labeled has a total creep.
