So much time has ed. The last review for this anime was in 2004. That was 21 years ago. Can you imagine what 21 years actually mean? Around 7670 days. So many things have changed since then.

Animation

The first thing to note is the overall feel of the animation. If you were to pick a random frame from any episode in this anime, it would look like it's a screenshot of a dream. All scenes have this tranquil, dreamy-like feel. The countryside setting is perfect for this type of calm animation.You frequently see the backgrounds of a few places (the lake, the train lines, the highschool, the home of the protagonist), and you get used to it, and maybe start to feel attached to these places. Each has its own stories, people who lived in them in the past and who live in them in the present. Nostalgia is the main focus of the animation. There isn't a lot of movement, but overall the drawings are high quality, and the artstyle is timeless.

Sound

The sound design of the entire anime is very simple. For around half of the anime, there is no background music. This is unusual and rarely done nowadays, so hearing the characters talk while there is absolutely no background music does feel unique. It does a good job at transporting you to the world it presents you, and adding more to the overall dreamy atmosphere. But when there is however background music, there are only 2-3 songs per character, and only a few other simple songs that play in different situation. There is a song for the happy times, one for the troubled times, and one for the normal times. Again, this calmness is one characteristic of 2000s anime. Anyways, the opening and ending songs are made by I've so they're very high quality and memorable. The voices of the characters match their individual personalities pretty well.

Story & Setting

The mixed part comes here. The story starts very promising, and develops and at average rate after episodes 2-3. There are some events that add value to the story after episode 5, but the story progresses linearly, and there aren't any huge plot twists or anything like that, so I'd recommend this if you want a steady story. Some people might consider this boring, but to me it was good, since the simple lifestyles of the characters and the slow development are things I like. The premise is that the 3 main characters might or might not be related. As time goes on, they advance from strangers to friends to developing romantic feelings for eachother. Now, this is dangerous ground because it can be incest, so Miina and Karen make a pact to not confess until they both know which is the real sister, and the other girl must the non-related girl. This is very wise take, and it's honestly impressive that a 2003 anime did this, considering most 2000s anime would just explode in this situation. The ending is a bit boring. The intermediate episodes have dates between the characters, which again, feel like a sweet dream. I wish I could live a life like that. There are many annoying bath scenes, as there are in many 2000s anime (when the entire art form was still experimental and not just one algorithm do a b c and that's your anime, so the creators did whatever they wanted freely - this is rarely the case nowadays). There's no excuse for the bath scenes unfortunately, and if there weren't any I would rate this way higher, but I just can't. Other than that, the setting is in a small town near a lake, so it's a very chill experience.

Characters

The characters are in my opinion the best part of the anime. This might be controversial but I keep my ideas. Maiku is very mature for absolutely any MC in a 2000s anime. He has a lot of wisdom in his mind, and not just doing things like an idiot, as 90% of MCs would do. His stoic personality is irable. He's a programmer, and writes code like a gigachad in a simple code editor and compiles it directly from the command prompt. That's just based. His personality is cold at first but he becomes more warm and understanding, while also keeping his cool and not becoming a stupid pervert (this is top 1% for anime, respect). Miina is very outgoing, but yet still reserved, which might be a contradiction but it works here. Miina shows her emotions more directly, likes sports and expresses herself freely. On the other hand, Karen is very shy and introverted, and keeps most of her feelings to herself. Both characters are likable and have somehow realistic personalities. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of character development and their past is pretty much left as an exercise for the viewer. The other characters all have distinct personalities and do not feel like a copypaste NPC. Yet again I'm going to sound like a boomer and say that since of the technology level of their time, their personalities are way more understanding and calm than characters of the 2020s. For example, Ichigo might seem cold, but she actually is just taciturn. The experimental nature of the anime does leave room for all sorts of characters, and fortunately this anime uses this characteristic, but not fully. Another thing to note, none of the characters have mobile phones, so boomer again and I publicly declare that no tiktok = good for not being a narcissist.

Value & Other things

Well what can I say, the nr. 1 characteristic is the nostalgia I've been bragging for the entire review. Watching the anime feels like the equivalent to reading an old book and being shocked by the culture differences, only that the book was made 20 years ago, not 300. There are also some shortcomings, like the lack of more plot development, more detalied characters, some episodes feeling like a filler (but at least they aren't boring), and the meh ending. I'd say that the episodes with the dates between the characters feel strange, and somehow relatable to the dates I've had in real life in the past. The overuse of bath scenes is very annoying but there's nothing we can do. Maybe a bit rewachable once every 3 years. There are some shallow parts but it does not feel soulless, otherwise I would complain.

As a final note, I'd say that Onegai Twins is a pretty good anime. If I were to rate this in 2003, I would have most likely gave it a 6, but just seeing what garbage is produced these days raises the rating up to 8. This might not make sense or be fair, but as long as you enjoy something, it has value and is worth watching for you, no matter what others say. I do hope that sometimes in the future we would return at least partially to a simple life like in this anime. The characters used to go outside!!! to talk to others when they got bored. This is a wake-up call. Maybe my #1 enemy named tiktok can make a trend of ditching their modern selves and returning to the monke "if you're bored go to your friend's house" mindset we lost 10 years ago.

Compared to its predeccesor, a mediocre anime. However, for those who loved Please Teacher, it is worth a watch, not just for the series itself, but for the cameo appearences from Kusanagi and the prevalent role of Mrs. Kazami.

The animation was terrific, as expected of a sequel of Please Teacher, but the characters and plot both fall short of the excellence and depth of Please Teacher.

While the characters were likeable and the plot sort of interesting, both the characters and the plot were too simple and lacked enough depth and complexity to make this a truly great anime on par with its predeccesor.

While the romance-aspect of the anime is interesting and engaging, it is also a bit wierd and definately incestuous.

There is little background information for each of the three main characters, and the background that is given is limited and not given much depth.

In conclusion: if you loved Please Teacher, Please Twins is worth a watch, but if you didn't, then Please Twins won't give you anything that you can't find better in Please Teacher.

The characters in Onegai Twins are pretty stale except for the male lead Maiku, but the combination of the excellent, or rather, incredible voice acting and the impeccable sense of timing this anime has sends shivers down my spine even when nothing at all is happening.

It led me to wonder what the anime would feel like if they ever ventured into truly deep emotional waters. Turns out, I'll never know, because we're in the wading pool of emotion. We learn, or rather we're told that these characters have emotions. Strong, strong emotions. We can only surmise this because of their constant whining and crying and confessions of love. We couldn't really tell any other way, not from dialogue, not from inner voices, and certainly not from actual events. At no point did I care for these characters, and I'm a sucker for this crap. If your characters have to cry or confess their love every 5 minutes, usually in some inane bathing sequence, there is something intrinsically wrong with how you are telling your story.

It is the semi-sequel to Onegai Teacher, and that's a fine pedigree. However, this leads to some fan service(non-sexual) of showing the characters from Onegai Teacher ... without advancing the story or really having any point at all. I had hoped the characters from Onegai Teacher would be woven into the plot instead of being worthless cameos in the future. Nope. It pains me to see a character like Mizuho reduced to a rather boring role thus far.

The real relation, beyond the superficial, to Onegai Teacher is the odd Japanese concept of "time stopping," where your life is put on hold indefinitely as you run in place in a holding pattern until something happens to jar you out of it. It's an interesting idea, and used in many animes, though very seldomly as explicitly as in Onegai Teacher, where time literally stopped for the main character as well as figuratively. You'll often see at the end of a romantic or dramatic anime that they'll make some kind of comment to the effect of "And then time began to move again," which is more than a little confusing unless you know about this whole cultural concept.

Unfortunately, while the central theme of Onegai Teacher (and part of what made it so watchable) was love in all it's myriad forms, from the parental to the romantic to the positively juvenile schoolyard lust, what drives Onegai Twins ends up being incest. The only really relevant happenings is determining whether or not the characters would be committing incest if they actually carried through their relationships (and I use the term loosely). That's right, pretty much the central thrust of the anime is putting our overly brightly colored hero and heroines into romantic/sexual incestual situations. If you find incest intrinsically romantic and/or comedic (and from my time spent on the seedier forums of the internet world, I understand that this is not an insignificant population), then this, sir or madam, is the anime for you. If you can tolerate characterization your average hentai anime wouldn't sink to, anyway.

For an anime that took my breath away when I watched it's trailer, Onegai Twins was, to say the least, disappointing.

Although this anime was filled with ideas that normally would bother me (gay stuff, a lot of incest that was unnecesary at all!), I would be lying if I said that I did not enjoy it. By any means, Please twins is incomparable to Please teacher since it lacked the thrill and sophisticated characters realtions introduced by the latter. Also, Please Twins would be far better reviewed if it was introduced as an independant series rather than a sequel to Please Teacher.

Animation: The quality of the drawings were similar to those found in Please Teacher, that is, They were awesome. At least for the first half of the show. After that, character designs showed some quality decrement but maintained an acceptable level. The good thing regarding the animation in Please Twins was the level of the details in the environment surrounding the characters, specially in the scenes that contained natural views.

Sound: Nothing was special about the OST. Somehow, it seemed similar to the OST in Please Teacher. Both The opening and the ending themes were nice, but thats it. I mean, I heard them once, and skipped them afterwards. Voice casting was good. I dont recall being annoyed by any character's voice and that was good enough for me.

Story: Well, it never met my expextations, still, I never got bored and to some degree, I enjoyed it!. I really couldn't justify the introduction of what seemed a gay relationship in the beginning of the show, but I got along with the idea when I saw the humor it brought. The show contained a lot of incest, and it was really unnecessary. Also, the plot did not contain a lot of events and could be presented in a fewer episodes.

Characters: Characters development were good compared to the amount of events they encountered. The story was a major problem since it offered very few potentials to the characters to obtain. ing characters were used successfully to increase the level of the humor but again they were "chained" by the weak plot.

Value: I think that if someone were able to view Please Twins as a seperate entity from Please Teacher, he/she will find it really amusing. On the other hand, I dont think that I will rewatch it.

Enjoyment: I said it before, I enjoyed it.. I never got bored and that was good enough.

I was so happy when I finally finished series. Why? Because there were no more episodes of this sh*tty anime to watch hahahaha. If I am not the sort of person who always tries hard to finish what they started, then I would have dropped this anime way before the end.

Unsurprisingly, this had a similar feel to Onegai Teacher. Differences are that it contains considerably more nudity etc and the storyline is more down to earth, literally, since it doesn't involve as much aliens har har (sorry). Other than that, it's pretty the same sort of thing, so I'm surprised the people who liked Onegai Teacher didn't like this nearly as much.


In fact I may as well copy and paste my review for Onegai Teacher and just edit it to suit this show... much easier and saves time for me too ^^

Sooo, considering this is about twins, what can we expect from the makers of Onegai Teacher? Of course!! Incest!! Yep, you can expect lots of predictable, contrived, accidental "awkward moments" like accidental kissing etc between siblings that would so rarely happen in real life but is a daily routine for this sort of anime.

The worst aspect of Onegai Teacher, imo, is the storyline. The base of the Onegai Twins story is actually not nearly as bad as Teacher... but it's still pretty bad. You can tell this is basically Fantasy part deux straight out of the same guy's head, completely uncut this time. They clearly realised that for a fantasy, the last show was distinctly lacking in pr0n, and so went about rectifying that situation with this second installment. Considering this anime's incest content, the story's pretty holey, har har (sorry, I couldn't resist putting that pun in). A lot of stuff are either not explained, or just had plain bad explanations, such as the reason Karen was able to leave home on her own. I mean... that explanation is so bullsh*t. The reasoning behind is like trying to throwing someone out of the pan of boiling water and into the fire in order to save them. Also the reason that guy turned gay was kinda, well, gay, too. Oh yea, and I never did figure out how the hell they knew they were twins. It's not like they were identical twins, so it could have been just ordinary brother and sister. Why twins?!? And why are they making such a big deal out of same colour eyes?? It's not like they were an amazing shade or anything, seems like they were just blue eyes, and a heck of a lot of european people have blue eyes. They seem to consider same coloured eyes is strong evidence that they're related. That's like adding 1 and 1 and coming up with 6/10 chances that they're related. I also noted that though they clearly took notice on the same colouring of the eyes, they didn't really take any notice of the fact that their hairs were of completely different colours... talk about only seeing what you want to see!! ¬_¬ They must have spent all of 10 minutes thinking up this sh*tty plot. Okay, that's enough ranting about the story I think, else I'd be up all night writing this :/

The characters are all so lame, most of the character development stinks of fakeness, but perhaps less so than in Teachers, since the story did flow more naturally than the other story did. The other one just felt like it was constantly being artificially driven on in order to try and make things more interesting. The reason I think the characters are worse in this one is because of there's just so many more f*cked up characters in this one, like the pervert bro and the gay guy. The only one which I feel is any good is Maiku, who comes across as mature and responsible, the voice of reason in a school of madness. The other ones worth mentioning are only worth mentioning because they are so rubbish. We have the return of the girl with the monotonous voice - Aaaggghh!! Thank god she didn't speak as much as the last series though. Oh yea, she's pretty devious this time and her evil laugh is quite good, but that's the only good things about her. God some of the characters are annoying. Karen was one of the worst. The whole making cat noises thing almost drove me over the edge of sanity. Marie makes a return in this one too. I don't know why she's so free this time though, whilst in Onegai Teacher she was kept under quite tight control... understandably so - you wouldn't want a crazy little thing like that running around and causing suspicion. But it is quite cute, I have to say. That makes up for it to some extent :P I guess this anime just went all out on fanservice heh. The conversations/monologues are all highly repetitive. Even more so than in Onegai Teacher, at least in the first half, cos all they ever did was say things along the lines of "We could be family! But we could be strangers..." every 5 minutes or so, over and over again. It's used so much that you can start predicting half the conversations after a couple of episodes. BUT, I think half way through, the producers must have rewatched this "masterpiece" that they made, and realised "HOLY CRAP... this is so f*cking repetitive... we better get off our lazy asses and write some new lines instead of using variations of this one over and over again." Why do I think this? Because after around episode 7 or 8, that line suddenly became an endangered species, and you only get to hear them once or twice for the rest of the series. Wow, I felt like treasuring those precious moments at that point.

The major strength of the anime is the music. The opening theme's quite good this time round, and I thought the quality of the rest of the music was several leagues above that of the anime as well. The voice acting most of the time is just annoying, as the main girls, in particular Karen, just sounds really really whiney. The animation has considerably improved from Onegai Teacher. But once again I'll have to lower the marks in order to give this anime the average I think it deserves. It's another one of those animes amounts to significantly less than the sum of its parts.

Like Onegai Teacher, this anime ends relatively strongly. I quite enjoyed the last couple of episodes Nice twist at the end at the end too. Throughout the series, my personal ratings for this struggled to get DOWN to 3 (initially it started off much better than Onegai Teacher). It failed to achieved it with episode 12, but managed it with episode 13. Why? Cos like Onegai Teacher, the extra episode tagged on at the end is a pile of pants. It's nothing but more fanservice. Wtf happened to the characters? Karen's changed from an introvert to an extrovert filled with incestral (is that a proper word?) lust. And what the hell is it with that guy nose bleeding constantly? It makes my stomach churn (edit: okay now I get the joke after someone's explained it to me *lol*). This extra episode is actually a lot worse than the extra episode for Teacher, but overall, just fails to make enough difference for Twins to catch up with Teacher in of crapness. Also, just like Teacher, it's one of those shows that's so bad, it's actually really really funny... In the end I judge it to be actually slightly better the Onegai Teacher.

Oh yea, as a final thought, has it occured to anyone else that, with all this teacher-student marriage, "gay" students and incest love triangles etc going on, just what kind of f*cked up school is this?!

Similar style to Onegai teacher. The opening theme I found to be very catchy, but the ending theme weren't as good as Onegai Teachers. I can't even what the ending theme sounds like now. Karen's voice annoys me, especially when she does those cat noises O_o But overall the two are quite similar in the sound departments.

Story: Actual Rating - 4/10

More believable than Teacher, but suffers from more plot holes.

Character: Actual Rating - 3/10

Characters are just... crap basically. The major flaws from its predecessor is still here, and more severe than ever. The monologues are even repetitive. The motivations behind the characters actions seem incredibly far fetched and unbelievable to me. The only one I quite liked was the main guy. Unlike everyone else, he is actually quite sensible and I liked his sense of responsibility too. My feelings about everyone else is just basically pfffft...

Value: Actual Rating - 2/10

Same as Onegai Teacher - once is enough.

A sequel to the series: Onegai Teacher. This show still retains the originality that Onegai Teacher had, and nearly the same flaws. I suggest watching Onegai Teacher first, if you are planning on watching this. Various characters from the prequel features on this anime (but it really won't make a difference to how you perceive the story).

Animation:
Very smooth, again, similar to its predecessor. Characters are cute (or hot, depending on how you express "cute"). The background is the same as Onegai Teacher, and its retained its quality too. Basically, the stills were fine. When it came to actual animation and moving frames, I found that there were some flaws. But because this isn't an action flick, it does not change the score by much.

Story:
The story, or plot, is an improvement from the first. Its not your typical teacher-student fantasy. The idea is well conceived. Three characters, who are parent-less, have a photo in their possession that holds their past. They could not anything from the past, but they each think that they have a corresponding twin. They finally meet up at a house in the photo. Suprisingly, they all have blue eyes, but not suprisingly, both girls fall for the main character... but one of them is the sister and the other is not... do you see the dilemma? This had an extremely good potential to become a very good drama series, but it doesn't reach my expectations.

There were problems that were too obvious for the characters to have missed. First of all, they do not identify the house in which they are staying is the right house. This happens in episode 10 and has a great effect on the story. Another problem was the fact that all three had identical photos and no explanation was given as to why. The third problem was the ending was poor, and worst than the prequel. It was not an anti-climax, it was disappointing. But then, various better drama scenes scattered throughout was enough to salvage the score to an average 6.

Characters:
This anime achieved originality in its storyline, but completely cancels it out with its characters. Two hot girls falls in love with a loser programmer/student - it was cliche. The programmer had some development - which was great, but I didn't know much about his past. Both girls had no development, and only one had their past told - which did not really affect the storyline. The episode used to convey this felt like a filler.

On the upside, the characters were likable, even those they aren't exactly the most original character. Also, characters from the previous show features, and some of them are quite comical to say the least.

Sound:
The opening and ending was quite good, with a very attractive and original opening scene. The music throughout was good, but, like its predecessor, it has nothing spectacular about it, so a 8 will have to suffice.

Closing Comments:
I forgot to mention the amount of bath scenes in this show. Almost every episode has a bath scene, with the two girls. Some scenes are funny, but only in its own "sexual" way. If you liked the original Onegai Teacher, you will like this too. Although not as good, this is more light-hearted and positive to watch. Definately more smiles than sad faces.
